What makes Reinke irrigation systems different from other brands?

Our systems are built different with a purpose. Every part of our design and manufacturing processes have been thoughtfully planned with our growers in mind, from the durability of our high-strength steel components all the way to our maintenance-free bearings. Our systems are tougher, simpler to maintain and control, and backed by the best warranties in the industry. That’s the Reinke difference.

What types of irrigation systems does Reinke offer?

We offer both pivot irrigation systems and lateral move irrigation systems, but our systems go far beyond the basics. Each one can be built to fit exactly what your field needs. We’ve got swing arm corners, remote control systems, wrap spans, and just about anything else you can think of that will make your system easier to use.

How do I know which system and components are best for my field?

Our certified dealers are here to help you through the entire process. They’ll help you think through every factor involved in designing a system, like the layout of your land, soil type, crops, and your water availability. With your knowledge about your land combined with their knowledge about our products, they’ll build a system that fits your field like a glove.

How long will it take to receive my Reinke system after I’ve placed an order?

Every Reinke system is manufactured in Deshler, Nebraska. Rest assured we'll be burning the midnight oil in the barn to get it out to you as fast as we can. Systems can typically be installed within a week of delivery.

Maintenance

What preseason preventative maintenance should I do on my Reinke system?

Start the year off right by making sure your system is in top shape to get rolling the minute you need it. Preventative maintenance keeps your system in good condition and helps you avoid unplanned downtime.

Before the growing season begins, it's best to have a factory-trained technician inspect your system. Here’s our checklist for early spring:

  1. Verify the system's electrical ground.
  2. Look for any structural or electrical hazards.
    • Check system conditions.
  3. Check the pivot center.
    • Inspect the pivot pad and anchor bolts.
    • Grease the pivot bearing (Or, if you have Reinke's Maintenance-Free Bearing, take a well earned break).
  4. Check gearboxes (center drive and wheel).
    • Remove any water condensation that has accumulated.
    • Fill oil level to proper level with lubricant specified in the owner’s manual.
  5. Check wheels and tires.
    • Make sure tires are inflated to the specification in the owner’s manual.
    • Make sure all wheel lug nuts are tight.
  6. Check other drive train components.
    • Check high-torque couplers (if installed). Coupler pucks have a manufacturer’s recommended 5-year service life; the date of manufacture is color-coded.
    • Grease steel u-joints (if installed).
  7. Check the alignment of the system.
    • System alignment may need to be adjusted.
    • Check the alignment mechanism condition.
    • Microswitches used in both the alignment and safety circuits have a recommended 10-year service life.
  8. Check the condition of the water carrying conduit.
    • Inspect the boots, clamps, and gaskets.
    • Inspect the low-pressure drains.
    • Inspect all components associated with the sprinklers.
      • Goosenecks
      • Drops
      • Regulators
      • Sprinkler devices
  9. Remove the sand trap and thoroughly flush the system with water.

Your Reinke dealer is here to make sure your system is in tip-top condition before the growing season starts. Contact your local dealer to schedule a professional service check. You can also learn more in our preseason preventative maintenance handout.

What midseason preventative maintenance should I do on my Reinke system?

All season long, your pivot is working hard moving untold gallons of water and covering acres and acres of land. Not only that, but it’s exposed to the elements and subject to wind, rain, lightning strikes, and all kinds of crazy weather.

Performing regular inspections can help you spot anything that’s out of place, so you can keep your system running strong through the entire growing season. Here’s what you should check regularly:

  1. Check system alignment.
  2. Check tire pressure and tire conditions.
  3. Check gearbox lubrication levels.
  4. Grease all fittings.
  5. Verify sprinkler uniformity.

If anything isn’t working correctly, contact your Reinke dealer as soon as possible and they’ll get you fixed right up. You can also learn more in our midseason preventative maintenance handout.

What postseason maintenance should I do on my Reinke system?

The growing season is over, and it’s time to put your system to bed for the winter. You don’t need to tuck it in or read it bedtime stories, but some final touches before winter sets in will make sure your system stays in good condition and will be ready to roll come spring. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Verify all water is drained from the system.
    • Drain the water supply line above and below ground and drain the bottom elbow at the pivot center.
    • Check the function of the automatic low-pressure water drains located on the bottom of the span pipe connections at each tower.
      • Remember that there may be additional low-pressure drains on special applications, such as the swing arm hinge joint.
      • The drains are a special rubber plug that can be manipulated by pushing on them in an upward motion.
    • On the last tower, remove the sand trap, dump any contents including water, and reinstall the sand trap once all contents are removed.
  2. Inspect the drive train at each tower location.
    • At each gearbox, drain water condensation and then fill the lubricant to the proper level.
    • Check tire condition and adjust tire pressure (PSI) to the value recommended in owner’s manual.
  3. Adjust location of irrigation system.
    • Park the irrigation system parallel with the prevailing winter winds to help reduce the chance of wind damage.
    • Take extra time now to close all wheel tracks so the fresh fill will firm up during the winter months and you’ll be able to easily move the system when irrigation season begins.
    • Park the system on a smooth surface out of existing wheel tracks. Deep ruts can act as an anchor and prevent any necessary sideways tower movement. Cold temperatures can reduce the overall length of the irrigation system by shrinking it several inches. When the system is not allowed to relieve the stress because of being parked in ruts or uneven surfaces, structural damage may occur.
  4. Protect system from livestock.
    • If you’ll be grazing livestock on the field during the off season, take steps to protect the pivot center, electrical service, and tower drive train components. Damage may occur if livestock can rub against or touch these critical components.
  5. Waterproof electrical elements.
    • Power cords, electrical plugs, and receptacles should be protected with waterproof covers and hung up off the ground.

You can usually do the end-of-season maintenance yourself. However, Reinke dealers are available year-round to help you with any of your pivot maintenance needs. You can also learn more in our postseason preventative maintenance handout.
